Attendance Awareness Month: Let's focus on homeroom - the official attendance reporting period.

September 25, 2022 | by information

Students must arrive at school no later than 7:38 a.m.

Per The Louisiana Department of Education, homeroom is the official attendance-reporting period at Sci High. Students that arrive after 7:38 a.m. are considered tardy for the school day. Students who attend homeroom are better supported. Students typically utilize this period to check in about academic grade reports, and behavior reports and report any technology, transportation, or other needs. Homeroom also serves as a means for students to work through modules in Edgenuity, the school-wide, social-emotional learning program.

It is important to note the following:

  • After five absences, students can fail a course at our school.
  • As a preventative measure, those who are excessively tardy will be referred to the school's social worker for an attendance conference.
  • During an attendance conference, the school’s social worker will provide additional support or develop a plan to aid the student in arriving at school on time.

Part of Sci High’s vision is to bring the best of New Orleans to the world. To do that, our students must come aboard, every school day to become better equipped for their future in the world. Remember, “Extraordinary people, with extraordinary determination, can achieve successes untold.” All of our students are extraordinary and they can all achieve successes untold.

Let’s have a great week!
