June is National Oral Health Month

June 13, 2022 | by information

June is National Oral Health Month and serves as a reminder of the importance of good oral hygiene. This not only keeps your mouth healthy but also contributes to better overall health. Oral health can often provide clues about the health of the entire body, from systemic diseases to nutritional deficiencies. Gum disease may increase your risk of getting respiratory infections. By visiting the dentist on a regular basis, problems can be diagnosed and treated earlier for better outcomes.

Ways to improve your oral health, according to the American Dental Association(ADA)

  • Brush your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste
  • Floss at least once a day
  • Eat a healthy diet that limits sugar
  • Visit your dentist regularly for the prevention and treatment of oral disease
