Dear Sci High Families,
As we get closer to the start of our new school year -- a school year like none other -- teachers and staff are going above and beyond to plan and prepare to make sure you get off to a STRONG start. Now, we need you to do your part. Next week is Orientation Week. These sessions are mandatory. This is when students will receive the technology they need to attend class remotely, where they will receive all the supplemental materials they need for their courses, and where they will get oriented on how this will all work.
So here are a few reminders as we start the school year:
  1. Orientation Schedule
  • 9th grade: Monday, August 10th.
  • 10th grade: Tuesday, August 11th
  • 11th grade: Wednesday, August 12th
  • 12th grade: Thursday, August 13th
  • Friday, August 14th, will be our virtual "Meet & Greet" Day.
Please arrive during the time block that you were assigned or that you signed up for via the Doodle poll. In order to assist with social distancing, and to keep everyone as safe as possible, we have limited the number of students who will arrive within a one hour window.
If your student will not be able to attend the mandatory orientation session in person, or if you need a hot spot, please complete this form (https://forms.gle/WxdyoafP1Mtx1fkA8) by 4pm on August 7th.
2. Summer Reading Assignments for English:
This is a reminder that the English summer reading assignments are due on the following dates: Grades 9th & 10th are due Friday, August 21st and grades 11th & 12th are due Monday, August 17th. Please note that these due dates are for all students regardless of whether they’re taking the course in the fall or the spring semester. If you have any questions please contact Ms. Lee at slee1@noscihigh.org.
3. School Breakfast & Lunch:
During our distance learning period, Sci High will continue to provide meals to our students. In the next few days, please expect a to receive information from the school about choosing a "meal pick-up" location.

Lastly, please remember, it is up to us as a community to reduce community spread of COVID-19. We need everyone to mask up, wash your hands, socially distance when possible, and stay home if you are feeling sick. There are 45,000 students in New Orleans that depend on all of us to do our part.

Together, we can do this!

-Dr. Cola
