The Dillard University Physics Department’s summer program DU- WISHES is a STEM-based summer camp for 9-12 grade high school girls. It has been our passion to not only increase minority participation in STEM fields but also female participation in STEM. This passion has led to Dillard University becoming one of the top universities in the nation for producing female graduates that go on to obtain PhDs in STEM. We took our method for fostering growth of female scientists and engineers at the collegiate level, and have applied it to our summer camp for high school girls. We have many past participants of this program who have gone on to thrive in their university STEM studies. We are currently partnering with IBM, NASA, and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research for this year's program. This year's focus is Quantum Computing. The participants will not only get to learn from IBM Quantum Computing experts, they will also receive a stipend and a tablet device for participation. This program is free of cost to the participants. Our hope is that we can support as many aspiring young female scientists and engineers as possible. The program starts June 8 and ends June 22.
Enrollment is open until June 8, 2022, or when all spots are filled. The program is located in the PSB Building.
