The following message contains information about returning to in-person learning, free meal delivery service, Back To School Night, mandatory vaccinations, and information for 12th graders.

Dear Sci High Families,
Since my message to last Friday, we've dealt with the threats of, not one, but two tropical weather events. So I hope this message finds you and yours, safe and sound.
As you may have heard, today NOLA Public Schools announced that the District will begin a phased return to in-person learning, beginning with Pre-K through 4th grade, starting in mid-September. Students in grades 5 - 12, which includes us, will continue distance learning citywide at least until mid-October. NOLA Public Schools will continue to monitor the public health data with medical experts and public health officials. We will continue to work in coordination with the District, reassessing our unique situation often, to determine the best course of action for the Sci High community.
Other reminders:
  • If you have not done so already, please sign-up for free meal delivery service by clicking on this link https://form.jotform.com/THSFC/no-sci-high-home-delivery. You will receive an email confirmation with your delivery date. Until your delivery date is confirmed, please pick-up your meals curbside at Sci High every Monday and Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at our school site located at 5625 Loyola Avenue.
  • Virtual "Back To School Night" was rescheduled due to the potential impact of Hurricane Laura. It will now take place on Thursday, September 3rd, 5:00 p.m., via Google Meets. This event will allow parents to follow their students' schedules, join each class for 15 minutes, and meet each teacher virtually. This will be your opportunity to get all your questions about your students' new courses answered.
  • Many of our students are behind in their mandatory vaccines. All students are required by the State to provide proof of the required vaccinations or immunity. If your student is not up to date with their vaccines, please schedule an appointment with the Student Based Health Clinic, ASAP, by calling 613-5648. The clinic is also available for virtual visits for both medical and behavioral health, and for students needing physical exams or lab work.

  • SENIORS: Senior Parade will take place on Saturday, September 12th at 3:00 p.m. You will receive more information from Ms. Honore soon. Also, Senior parents should make sure that they have joined the Google Classroom as directed by the previous email from Ms. Honore. That is where you will receive all information regarding Senior activities.
