Sci High Families,

We're almost there --- almost to the finish line! Even though there were plot twists and hurdles to overcome, we've made it to the end! I'm sending virtual hugs and high fives to all of you!! I'm so proud of all you've done and what we've accomplished together! So, as we bring this school year to a close, please take time to prepare for this week's LEAP 2025 Testing. Let's finish strong!

Here are the announcements for this week.

LEAP 2025 Testing
LEAP 2025 Testing will begin starting Monday, May 17th, and will continue through Wednesday, May 19th. Students who are required to take the test have been notified via email and can ask their homeroom teachers about their test dates and subjects. Confirm the student's pickup and dropoff time at the school's website. If there are any questions or concerns regarding the LEAP 2025 test email Ms. T. Smith. (tsmith@noscihigh.org).

Students are allowed to dress down for final exams, but they must follow the dress code as it is listed in the student handbook. The student handbook can be found on the school's website. Students may not wear clothes with rips or clothing that is revealing in any way. Crocs, flip flops, and clothing with alcohol/drug paraphernalia are not allowed.

Advanced Placement Testing
Advanced Placement testing continues this week. Students enrolled in an AP class should check with their teacher to know what day they are expected to take the in-person test.

Graduation
Graduation for graduating seniors is May 26th at the UNO Lakefront Arena. Families of graduating seniors should have received an email from Ms. Honore with details.

P-EBT
P-EBT is a federally funded benefit for families of children who normally receive free or reduced-price meals but did not receive those meals this year due to their school participating in virtual or hybrid instruction. You can learn more about the program here.

Vaccines
Louisianans ages 12 and up can now receive the COVID-19 vaccine, following the CDC action late Wednesday formally recommending its use for this age group. Before this announcement, the Pfizer vaccine was recommended and authorized for people no younger than 16 years of age.

Families can start making appointments now. The Louisiana Department of Health on Thursday morning alerted vaccine providers that they can begin administering the Pfizer vaccine to people ages 12 and up. This updated guidance goes into effect immediately.

Families may have questions, that’s understandable. We can help get them the answers. If families have questions, we encourage them to talk to their child’s pediatrician or another trusted medical professional. If they don’t have access to a medical professional, they can call our COVID vaccine hotline 855-453-0774 who can directly connect them.

S.T.E.P – Summer Tutoring & Enrichment Program

Current families can now register students for this summer's tutoring and enrichment program to help students sharpen skills that will prepare them for the next school year. The program will begin on June 7th and continue through July 1st. Registration and more information about this program are available via the school's website.
