Interested in visual arts? Eager to learn about artists and new art-making techniques? Want to engage in critical conversations about art, interpretation and social justice? Curious as to what goes on in an art museum?
The Ogden Museum of Southern Art’s Teen Internship Program is designed to provide teens a space to explore the arts and develop their creative voice.
The Ogden Museum of Southern Art’s yearlong Teen Intern Program provides high school youth a space to explore the arts and develop their creative voice. Over the summer, Teen Interns participate in five weeks of training, learning and assisting the Fine Arts Fundamentals camp, followed by a three-week intensive, featuring museum career exploration, community outreach, engagement with other cultural institutions and art workshops. During the school year, Teen Interns meet monthly to further develop their artistic practice through artist workshops, curation of a teen exhibition and assisting with Museum programming.
Teen Interns receive a stipend of $1000 for the 8-week summer program and $50 per meeting during the school year.
Ogden Museum is committed to serving the current needs of New Orleans area teens and tackling the big issues in our local, national and global realms. This year the program will take a focused approach to racial equity, pluralism and environmental awareness, giving teens the access and resources they need to develop actionable ways to express themselves and be of service to their community.
The Ogden Museum Teen Intern program was selected for the 2015 National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award, the nation’s highest honor for the out-of-school arts and humanities programs that celebrate the creativity of America’s young people, particularly those from underserved communities.
