NOLA-PS to require vaccinations for students participating in extracurricular activities

In an effort to keep students and staff safe, and as many other school districts around the country are doing, New Orleans Public Schools announced this week, that they will require vaccinations or weekly COVID-19 testing for students participating in extracurricular activities. As a collective, we believe that this is the least restrictive and most effective means currently available to assist our schools in combating this ongoing pandemic. Indeed, we believe this approach is not only reasonable but also aligns with all relevant laws regarding vaccination mandates and K-12 educational institutions.

As such, Sci High is coordinating with our School Based Health Clinic to administer vaccines and perform COVID-19 testing. The schedule will be as follows:

  • Vaccinations (by appointment) - please call 613-5648
  • Weekly testing for unvaccinated individuals:
    • Staff - Mondays 3:30 - 4:30 pm
    • Students - Wednesdays afterschool

We sincerely hope that you will support and cooperate with our efforts. We understand that the last year has been difficult for all citizens of our great city and truly believe that these efforts are necessary to help protect our community.
