Chamber Chat - 1/2

January 2, 2022 | by information

Hey Sci High,

Happy New Year! I write this email with an abundance of joy and good intentions for this year. While Sci High is continuing the current school year, our community is also starting a new semester. Students will take new classes and most will have new teachers. Here are a few reminders regulating our return in the new year:

Faculty and staff will return on January 3, 2021, for professional development.

Students will return on Tuesday, January 4, 2021, for the first day of the second semester. The student entrance at North Johnson Street will open at 7:15 am. Students are required to be in full uniform upon arrival. This includes wearing the school-issued identification card as described in the student and family handbook.

Transportation routes have not changed. For the latest transportation routes please refer to the quick links on the school’s website at www.noscihigh.org.

COVID Safety reminders:

With the recent increase in Covid cases due to the Omicron variant, we are following the guidance from NOLA-PS/Local/State health officials and asking our families to adhere to the following measures to mitigate the transmission of COVID-19 at Sci High:

  • We urge all students to get tested before returning to school on Tuesday.

  • Students who are sick (regardless of illness) should not report to school.

  • Students who test positive for COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status, will need to isolate for 10 days. Please notify the school that the student will be absent due to COVID.

  • Students who are close contacts (exposed to someone who tested positive for Covid -19)

    • Vaccinated (completed the full 2-dose regimen): if no symptoms, no quarantine required, must wear a mask, test on day 5.
    • Not vaccinated: Stay home (quarantine) for 5 days, continue to wear a mask around others upon return, test on day 5. Please notify the school that the student will be absent due to COVID exposure.
