I say that I am from everywhere and nowhere all at the same time. I was born in Germany and so I am German, but my father is American and we moved here when I was young. We lived in Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey and so I am from the North, but we moved South to my father’s home when I was 14 and have lived in the South more now than anywhere else.

I am a teacher and I love it. My earliest memories are teaching my sisters to read and bicycle. I started teaching at 21: I was hired for my first job at Mandeville and like all beginner teachers, I had no idea what I was doing. After four years, I took a year off, discovered nothing is quite as fun as teaching and returned to teaching, this time at Sci High. This is my sixth year at this school and I am often surprised to realize I am one of those experienced teachers I envied early in my career.

I am a mama. The joy my son brings me is something I am working on bringing to all the fields of my life
