Just Get Here...

This month is Attendance Awareness Month! Without a fact, missing class time places a student behind on their coursework and time to learn important information for assignments and final exams. We understand that emergencies will arise but skipping school for fun or to avoid specific assignments, proves to be harmful to students' overall success. Here are three ways that Sci High will continue to support our students in attending school, every day, on time.

School Provided Transportation

In addition to providing bus transportation to and from every part of Orleans Parish, this summer Sci High made improvements to our transportation system, by partnering with Cariina. Cariina allows families to track busses for more accurate stop times. The partnership also allows the school to communicate any issues directly with families, in real-time. Providing school transportation takes away barriers for families that rely on public transportation to get to school on time. Students in need of school-provided transportation should visit the front office to sign up.

Breakfast on Campus

Every student at Sci High qualifies for free breakfast and lunch. Our school staff will provide a complete, nutritious breakfast for our students every morning from 7:15 a.m. to 7:35 a.m. Breakfast is essential to getting a good start to the day. Every month, a breakfast and lunch menu is posted to the school's website on the dining commons page of the website. Families are encouraged to take a look at the options that we provide.

Providing Clear Policies

During orientation, our staff reviewed the school's attendance policy for students and families and provided a copy of the policy via the student and families handbook. The policy outlines the requirements for students to be marked present daily. This is another way that our school will continue to support our families in attending school every day, on time. This is another way that we accomplish our mission every day. When our students show up, they do tend to do their best in school.
